Check out our research guide that covers all the most frequently asked questions about Chicago style formatting and referencing.
Note: Chicago Manual of Style, 18th ed. is due to be published in late 2024. Be sure to ask your course professor which edition of Chicago they prefer during this transition from 17th to 18th edition!
The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition (also known simply as "Chicago," or "CMOS") is the preferred style to use in history classes at BVU for formatting your papers and citing your research.
The links below give examples of how to format your sources for your notes (often presented as footnotes on the pages where you refer to your source) and bibliography entries in Chicago Style. Or you can go to the source itself, which is available in the reference section of the BVU Library.
