History Research Guide

This guide brings together resources that are appropriate for historical research. Please see guides constructed for specific history classes.

Chicago style

The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition (also known simply as "Chicago," or "CMOS") is the preferred style to use in history classes at BVU for formatting your papers and citing your research.

The links below give examples of how to format your sources for your notes (often presented as footnotes on the pages where you refer to your source) and bibliography entries in Chicago Style.  Or you can go to the source itself, which is available in the reference section of the BVU Library.
